HTTP status check

The first thing a crawler sees. 4xx and 5xx are blocking. 200, 301, 302 are fine.

Redirect chain analysis

Follows up to 5 redirect hops. 2+ hops is a weakening signal; a chain that exceeds the limit is blocked.

X-Robots-Tag detection

Reads the HTTP response header for noindex, nofollow, none.

Meta robots scanning

Detects <meta name="robots"> and googlebot directives in the first 50 KB of HTML.

Canonical tag + header

Checks both <link rel="canonical"> and the Link HTTP header for cross-referencing.

Robots.txt parsing

Fetches /robots.txt from the origin, parses User-agent, Disallow, Allow directives, and applies the longest-match rule to the checked path.

Sitemap lookup

Reads declared Sitemap entries from robots.txt and checks whether the target URL appears in any of them.

Honest about what is not here yet

Every tool has limits. The ones below are platform limits, not feature gaps we plan to fill in a future sprint.

  • No email sending. There is no way to send email from this platform. No alerts, no digests, no password resets, no receipts.

  • No user accounts or sign-in. The product is stateless. There are no users, no sessions, no database. Every check is independent.
  • No scheduled re-checks. There are no cron triggers. Each check happens when you ask for it.
  • No full site audit. One URL, one answer. If you need to check every page on a domain, use a dedicated SEO crawler.
